Biogas from biodegradable waste

„Landfill gas’’ is made in the decomposing process of organic waste, in the absence of oxygen and is a mixture of methane, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and other gases. In case they are not collected and harnessed the noxius gases released into the atmosphere like hydrogen sulfide and halogen compounds lead to the build-up of greenhouse gases.

Through aneorobic fermentation, the energy from organic waste is transformed into methane (generally a cubic meter of methane can contain anywhere from 5 to 7 KWh). Having a high calorific value the deposit gas is well suited for use as fuel for gas engines, which generate thermal and electrical energy.
